Social media and body image is a big issue in our society today. The case described a “hot or not” game on social media that consisted of pictures of pretty girls and the girl with the least likes on her photo would be eliminated. This is something that happens a lot on social media and people don’t realize how harmful it can be. People are constantly comparing themselves to others. This can really lower confidence and cause insecurities.
Social media and body image has caused a lot of controversy in society. I never used to think that seeing billboards of tall beautiful girls would change the way people thought about themselves. Today, I understand this is an issue. Everyone has insecurities and seeing photos or other people who seem to not have any insecurities is difficult. This is very important to discuss in school because we have to teach kids that everyone is beautiful in their own way and you should compare yourself to others.
Four Little Corners is used digital tool to show kids it is ok to look and be different. It is a story book about acceptance. This tool is relevant to teaching because kids should learn young that you shouldn't look like everyone else. This can be incorporated into teaching by making it into a lesson. This would be very helpful for teachers to be able to teach their students about body image.
